The variety Melmac is one of the composite varieties that make up classic penis envy. Homestead Melmac was the original phallic mushroom variety that penis envy got its monitor from when it was bred with the prolific fruit producing variety called B+ (be positive) the resulting hybrid was named penis envy.
 The name "Melmac" is believed to reference the American sitcom Alf, which aired from 1986 to 1990, following the friendly extraterrestrial Gordon Shumway from the planet Melmac who crash-landed onto Earth and is taken into an American household.
In reference to penis envy the variety Melmac imparts most of the desired characteristics like potency and everyone's favorite phallic shape when it is combined with B+ to produce penis envy. In turn the B+ makes the variety much easier to grow in more prolific when fruiting.
